Software Development in Singapore
We are an Indian engineering team working with businesses in Singapore. Written scope before any code, and a fixed quote in SGD.
Working hours
Our day runs 09:00 to 18:00 India time, which is 11:30 to 20:30 in Singapore, so from late morning onwards we are on the same working day, and anything you raise first thing is picked up by 11:30.
Quoted in SGD
Quotes exclude the 9% GST in Singapore, shown separately on the invoice.
Data protection
Work for this market is scoped against the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), agreed before development starts rather than retrofitted afterwards.
Written scope
Every engagement starts with a written scope and a fixed SGD quote within 24 hours, so the price is set before work begins.
About Software Development
We are a small, senior software studio in Noida, Delhi NCR building custom software, web apps, SaaS products, and mobile apps for companies in India and abroad. You work directly with the engineers writing your code, not an account manager or an offshore team you never meet.
What the engagement includes
- You talk to the engineers building your software, directly. No account manager relaying messages, no offshore team you never meet.
- A written scope before any code, and a flat quote inside 24 hours, so the price is set before we start.
- Senior developers on your project from day one. We do not sell junior time at senior rates or swap people in after the sale.
- You own your code, your repo, and your hosting. Nothing is locked to us, and you can walk with everything at any point.
- Small team, direct access. When something breaks a year later, you message the people who built it, not a ticket queue.
- Proof we build real things: our own products PlugEV (an OCPP EV-charging platform), CloudNX (cloud hosting), and ToolKiya (online tools), plus 70+ client projects shipped.
What a Singapore build has to speak: Singpass, InvoiceNow and PayNow
Three national rails shape a custom system here in a way they do nowhere else, and all three are integration work that belongs in the scope rather than in a later phase. The first is identity. Login with Singpass and Myinfo let a Singapore resident sign in to your product with the national digital identity and, with consent, pre-fill verified particulars from government records, which removes most of a KYC form and most of its fraud surface. Integration is open to Singapore-registered entities through the Singpass Developer Portal, with a staging application first and production approval that can take up to two weeks, so the onboarding starts in week one rather than in the week you wanted to launch. Regulated industries supply their licence at onboarding. There is also a technical deadline worth knowing: every Singpass API must be fully FAPI 2.0 compliant by 31 December 2026, so a build that starts now is built to that profile from the beginning rather than migrated to it a year later. As an overseas team we do the integration under your organisation's registration, since the entity onboarded has to be yours.
The second is invoicing. If the system issues invoices, IRAS's GST InvoiceNow requirement is a data format and a transmission step, not a PDF: invoice data goes to IRAS through the nationwide Peppol-based InvoiceNow network, required since 1 November 2025 for newly incorporated companies that register voluntarily for GST, from 1 April 2026 for all new voluntary registrants, and for every GST-registered business progressively from April 2028 to April 2031. A billing module designed today produces Peppol-shaped invoice records and connects to an access point, because retrofitting that onto a system that only ever generated a printable invoice is a rewrite of the invoice model. The third is money. PayNow is how a large share of business and consumer payments move, and it is a push payment: the payer sends, the system reconciles an inbound transfer to an open invoice by reference, and there is no authorisation to capture and no card-style chargeback. A product built around card semantics gets reworked when PayNow is added; one built with both rails from the start does not. GST-inclusive price display is required wherever a consumer sees a figure, and the data protection obligations in the market block above apply to all three integrations, since each of them touches personal data by definition.
How we work with Singapore clients
Singapore is the one market we serve where the working day is simply shared. We are two and a half hours behind you and neither country moves its clocks, so our morning starts partway through yours and the whole of your afternoon is live time for both sides. That changes the shape of an engagement more than anything technical does: a call is booked for the same afternoon rather than the same week, a question raised before your lunch is answered after it, and the written-first method we run for North American clients is a courtesy here rather than a necessity. We keep the written record anyway, with a default chosen on every open decision, because it is the thing an auditor or a new hire can read later and a call is not.
Invoicing is worth stating plainly because the GST position confuses buyers on both sides. We are outside Singapore, so no GST appears on our invoice. Whether you account for it yourself is the reverse charge question, and IRAS's own guidance is that a GST-registered business making only taxable supplies is not affected, while a partially exempt one accounts for it in its own return. We quote in Singapore dollars, the figure holds for the project whatever the rupee does, and payment by bank transfer or Wise avoids the card fees a five-figure invoice does not need. The contract can sit under Singapore law with Singapore courts, and unusually among our overseas markets that clause has teeth: Singapore is a reciprocating territory under section 44A of India's Civil Procedure Code, so a judgment of the Singapore High Court can be executed in India directly rather than re-litigated.
PlugEV
Custom software from the protocol layer up: an OCPP Central System, a Laravel billing backend and an operator dashboard, built as one product and run in production on real chargers.

How does GST work if you are based in India?
No GST is charged on our invoice, and the invoice says so. Whether you account for it under reverse charge depends on your input tax position: IRAS's guidance is that a GST-registered business making only taxable supplies is not impacted, a partially exempt business or one with non-business receipts accounts for GST on imported services in its own return, and a business that is not registered should ask its accountant, because an exempt business importing more than S$1 million of services in a year can be required to register. We would rather your accountant confirmed your position before the first invoice than reconciled it at year end.
Are you compliant with the PDPA?
We build to it rather than claiming a certificate. The consent, purpose limitation and notification obligations shape the forms and the data model; retention limitation means records are deleted on a schedule rather than kept indefinitely; access and correction requests are features with a queue behind them rather than a manual database job. Processing happens in India, so the transfer limitation obligation applies, and the processor agreement we sign sets out the comparable standard of protection the Act asks for. The obligation to design for early is breach notification: an organisation has three calendar days from determining a breach is notifiable, which means one likely to cause significant harm or one affecting 500 or more people, to tell the PDPC, and answering what was in the breach is only possible if the logging existed beforehand. Appointing a Data Protection Officer is your obligation rather than ours, and we will say so if a design choice would make that person's job harder.
Can we use a PSG or EDG grant to pay for this?
Not PSG. The Productivity Solutions Grant funds pre-scoped packages from pre-approved vendors for Singapore-registered companies, and a custom build from an overseas team is not that shape, so we will not pretend it is. The Enterprise Development Grant is assessed project by project against its own criteria, and whether a build like yours qualifies is a question for Enterprise Singapore or your grant consultant to answer before the scope is written rather than after a budget has assumed it.
We are regulated by MAS. Can you meet the outsourcing requirements?
We can supply what a due-diligence pack asks for, accept audit and access rights in the contract, and name every sub-processor that touches your data. What we will also tell you in the first conversation is what we do not hold: we are not SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified, and our security page says so in those words. Whether an engagement with us is a material outsourcing arrangement under the MAS guidelines, and what that requires of you, is your compliance team's determination, and it changes the contract before it changes the code, so it belongs in week one.
Software Development: common questions
What does a software development company actually do?
It designs, builds, and maintains software for other businesses: custom apps, web and SaaS products, mobile apps, e-commerce, and the backends behind them. A good one also handles scope, design, hosting, and support so you are not stitching solo developers together. buildbyravirai does all of that with a small senior team out of Noida, for clients in India and abroad.
How do I hire a software development company in India without getting a body shop?
Ask who writes the code and insist on talking to them before you sign. Ask for a written scope and a fixed price, not an open hourly meter. Ask whether the seniors on the sales call are the ones who will actually build it. With us you get direct access to the engineers, a flat quote in 24 hours, and the same small team from scope to launch.
How much does custom software development cost?
It depends on scope, so we do not publish one-size ranges that fall apart on contact with a real brief. We write the scope down, quote one flat INR number against it, and get you the exact figure back within 24 hours. There are no surprise invoices and no per-hour meter. If you are a foreign parent company, we can invoice in USD to your entity. Our pricing page has more detail.
What is your team size, and who works on my project?
We are small on purpose. The team is founder and lead developer Ravi Rai plus a project manager, a designer, and an SEO specialist. Senior engineers do the work, you talk to them directly, and nobody is swapped for a junior after the sale. If a project needs more hands than we can staff well, we tell you that up front.
Do you work with international clients and invoice in USD?
Yes. We work with clients in India and abroad, in the US, UK, Canada, and the UAE. We work remotely on written scopes and regular demos, so timezones have not been an issue. We quote in flat INR and can invoice in USD to a foreign parent entity if that is easier for your accounting.
